After being given a camera, Komaneko discovers that animation can be really fun; and hard work too. Later on she takes her camera out into the woods near her house and tries to get a shot of the Bigfoot that lives there. The name apparently means ‘frame-taking cat’. This expanded version of a Japanese TV series is an absolute joy, with plenty of inspiration for budding filmmakers of all ages. The story is told in gestures and images rather than dialogue, and the attention to detail is amazing – especially the hand-made characters who act out Komaneko’s stories.
